Jerry Hausner, character actor best remembered as Ricky Ricardo’s agent on “I Love Lucy,” died April 1 of heart failure while undergoing treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He was 83.

Hausner, who began his career in radio while in the Army, was a member of the group that formed the Armed Forces Radio Service. He later performed in hundreds of radio shows before transferring to TV.

In addition to his “I Love Lucy” role as Jerry the agent, he also provided the baby cry for the Ricardos’ infant son, Little Ricky.

Hausner also appeared regularly on “I Married Joan” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” and in the early 1960s was voice director for the animated series “Mr. Magoo” and “Dick Tracy.”

Hausner was also deputy program director for Radio Free Europe for three years.

His film appearances included Stanley Kubrick’s “Paths of Glory,” and he toured with Hans Conreid in “The Sunshine Boys” and “Generation.” He also appeared in the 1985 TV movie “Amos.”
